Make Do and Mend

Make Do and Mend: If, to use current parlance, a ‘creative’ has produced some ‘content’ which you would like to ‘consume,’ shouldn’t you pay for it? Or should you simply continue to download songs and films illegally and pretend that you are a revolutionary intent on destroying the old bourgeois world of controlling intermediaries?

There is nothing new in sharing artistic work. We once copied tapes and films. Those of us who still read borrow books from one another. The P2P impulse, at first sight, might appear to be a communitarian one offering an appealing resistance to the dogma of individualism. But it leaves us with a problem.

How are the people who live by their imagination to make money in a time of romanticised theft? Is it not the moment to bring to an end the Manichean conversation about Corporate Bad Guys versus Online Good Guys? Surely the ones we should be worrying about protecting are not those who receive, promote or sell, but those who make.

Why Bloggers Rule the Roost - our latest blog for The Huffington Post UK

Why Bloggers Rule the Roost - our latest blog for The Huffington Post UK:
In The Times' Saturday magazine last weekend, new fashion editor, Laura Craik squeezed into a designer dress, climbed into a pair of towering high heels and took centre stage in her own feature. These days, she said, fashion editors don't have much choice but to get in front of the camera and model the products themselves and this is thanks largely to fashion bloggers, who, "without a budget, created their own visual content" and made their blogs "all the more compelling for it."

Editors and traditional publishing outlets have been trying to harness the power of the blog for a while now - by forcing their writers to step into the limelight, by launching their own blogs and by inviting bloggers to write for them - but brands too are actively courting bloggers in their attempt to extend and add value to their publicity.

To read the full blog, visit The Huffington Post. And do feel free to share the article on your social media pages, or use the comments section to give your own views on the subject.

The posts l provide are my views of good recipes and also are shared from a number of contacts, news and blogging services. They are not always tried and tested by me unless it states that l have cooked any myself, whereby it will be noted on the post accordingly. Please share this link http://twitter.com/ad144000hoe

Telenor Towards Changing Market

Telenor Towards Changing Market:

Telenor relaunched both their prepaid and postpaid brands Talkshawk and Persona last year and around a month back they have revamped their website. Apart from changes in the web look, some changes about Telenor brands/services have gone unnoticed. Some observed changes are:

  1. No bifurcation of services/brand on basis of prepaid or postpaid.

  2. No more Telenor Persona.

  3. Persona Consumer is now Business Consumer.

  4. Persona Karobar is simply Karobar with details shown to be coming soon.

These changes and some input from sources close to Telenor reveal that Telenor is moving towards making some changes in Paksitan telecom market.

The most significant change I see is dropping the pre/post bifurcation of market or we can say that changing the whole market segmentation scene. No more of persona and calling it business package supports the idea that plans are underway to step ahead of the prepaid and postpaid market segments and moving to segmentation on basis of consumer occupation or nature. This will mean that the business packages can go prepaid while the masses on packages like talkshawk and the youth on djuice can have postpaid billing services.

It is expected that prepaid connections for business consumers or SMEs will be the first step towards change. Let’s see when and how things unfold.

What's really at stake in the Google antitrust case?

What's really at stake in the Google antitrust case?:
The FTC probe into Google’s allegedly anticompetitive business practices may prove damaging to the search giant. But the entire technology market could be at risk, too.
