Telenor Towards Changing Market

Telenor Towards Changing Market:

Telenor relaunched both their prepaid and postpaid brands Talkshawk and Persona last year and around a month back they have revamped their website. Apart from changes in the web look, some changes about Telenor brands/services have gone unnoticed. Some observed changes are:

  1. No bifurcation of services/brand on basis of prepaid or postpaid.

  2. No more Telenor Persona.

  3. Persona Consumer is now Business Consumer.

  4. Persona Karobar is simply Karobar with details shown to be coming soon.

These changes and some input from sources close to Telenor reveal that Telenor is moving towards making some changes in Paksitan telecom market.

The most significant change I see is dropping the pre/post bifurcation of market or we can say that changing the whole market segmentation scene. No more of persona and calling it business package supports the idea that plans are underway to step ahead of the prepaid and postpaid market segments and moving to segmentation on basis of consumer occupation or nature. This will mean that the business packages can go prepaid while the masses on packages like talkshawk and the youth on djuice can have postpaid billing services.

It is expected that prepaid connections for business consumers or SMEs will be the first step towards change. Let’s see when and how things unfold.
