Responsibilities:
Speech Output Engineer - working in speech synthesis environments that sit between Nuance’s Research, Product, and Professional Services groups. Develops various linguistic tools and Text-to-Speech voice components in order to foster collaboration, improve efficiency, and deliver great user experiences.
• Build tools and components necessary for Advanced Speech Output workflow
• Port “research” code to stable, production-ready environments
• Work with Linguists, Designers, and Engineers to gather user requirements, create project schedules, and drive test plans
• Develop web applications utilizing technologies such as Django
• Design and implement web-driven databases
• Manage and deploy Linux and Windows server environments
• NLP (Natural Language Processing) savviness a ++
Qualifications:
3-4 years industry experience
Strong Python programming abilities
Advanced Unix text-processing (AWK, sed) and administration skills (Ubuntu, CentOS)
Experience designing and building relational databases (MySQL, Oracle)
Strong programming/analytical/debugging skills
Web application skills a ++ (JavaScript, JSP, HTML)
